Join us Thursday 12/19 for our Grand re-opening and meet Jeff Kolpack talk about his newest book: They Caught Them Sleeping: How Dot Reinvented the Pretzel 4:30p SHARP!
Dorothy Henke grew up the youngest of six children on a small farm north of Wahpeton, North Dakota, and because of family circumstances was left to essentially work much of the operation as a teenager. Decades later, she was on a first-name basis as Dot with Americans across the country because of a pretzel recipe she invented while living on a farm south of Minot, North Dakota. Dot's pretzels was no accidental discovery, but more a product of her hard-work upbringing combined with her husband Randy, her team of dedicated workers and an inner resolve to get the job done. It's an amazing American success story.

Maybe it was just meant to be, but Jeff Kolpack is continuing a writing legacy in the state of North Dakota started by his father Ed Kolpack, who got a job at The Forum newspaper in Fargo right out of college from the University of Minnesota in 1949. He never left. Jeff's brother Dave worked at The Forum and the Associated Press for many years. Jeff started at the Jamestown Sun in 1987, move to the Bismarck Tribune in 1988 and has been in Fargo since 1990. Like his dad, he's never left North Dakota. That experience has translated into three books with perhaps another in the making. Stay tuned.
